3. SCANNING
After you receive PET tracers,
you will be positioned for your
PET scan. You'll be glad to
know that your time inside the
PET machine will be quick,
around 30 minutes, and the
PET machine is noiseless,
unlike an MRI. |

2. PREP
To prepare for your PET scan, you will relax in a neutral room which doesn't
provide external stimulation such as pictures or music. The neutral environment
will enhance the performance of the PET tracers, which are safe radio-pharmaceuticals
composed of isotopes. The isotopes are basic elements of biological substrates,
such as carbon, oxygen, and fluorine. As you are prepared for your injection
or inhalation of PET tracers, the medical staff will answer any procedural
questions you may have. |

4. RESULTS
As a result of your PET scan, doctors will have immediate access to high
quality images providing valuable information which will make a difference
in your diagnosis or treatment. PET can produce whole body static images,
3D imaging, or dynamic or gated images which capture low-activity and rapidly
changing events in your body. After the doctor views your PET images, they
will be archived for future reference. |
